It’s All About Me

My work strikes at the intersection of abstract and expressionism. Defined by large-scale pieces, I strive for bold, vivid colors contrasted with dark accents, creating dynamic tension that draws viewers in.  I don’t start with the final work in mind, rather, I let instinct guide the painting’s evolution, allowing themes to emerge organically…a process that ensures each piece remains authentic and resonant.

The surrounding space is integral to my creative process. I consider the client’s wall, lighting, and atmosphere where a painting will hang, ensuring it enhances and transforms its environment.

Influenced by both classic abstract expressionists and contemporary disruptors of their day, my work attempts to reflect the spirit of Gerhard Richter, Pollock, de Kooning, Kline, Motherwell, and Banksy while aspiring to forge a distinct identity.

I employ mixed media—mostly oil and latex paints, resins, layered onto board or canvas with gesso, molding paste, and spackling—applied with palette knives, brushes, spatulas, and oversized squeegees.  This technique creates depth and texture, inviting viewers to explore beyond color and form.

Ultimately, my work attempts to challenge ones perspective of art and space, driven by instinct, environment, and the layered narratives woven through texture and color.

My studio is in the Mount Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia.
